For the reporting period 01.03.2013 – 30.06.2013, seventy-one persons visited Gender Alternatives Foundation’s Consultative center, fifty-seven of whom were new clients. More than 90% of them are women.
       Thirty-eight of the new help seekers come from Plovdiv city, eleven of them are from Plovdiv district and eight - from the country. The youngest client is 23 years old and the oldest one is 89.

          On 21.06.2013, under the project “Ensuring Sustainable Legal and Psycho-social Support for Victims of Domestic Violence in the Region of Plovdiv, Bulgaria”, funded by the OAK Foundation, good practice exchange on the implementation of the Protection against Domestic Violence Act (PADV) in Sofia, Plovdiv, Pazardzhik and Petrich was organized.       In Bulgaria, the World Respecting Childbirth Week will take place for a fifth time (20-27 of May, 2013). Series of events will be organized in seven Bulgarian cities.

    Gender Alternatives Foundation, Bulgarian Helsinki Committee, Association "Rodilnitza" and Association "Estestveno" prepared a Brochure for women's rights at birth. Its focus is on the right to give birth undisturbed, to be respected and treated with dignity, the right to informed consent and the freedom from discrimination.

Gender Alternatives Foundation seeks funding through the Catapult initiative, organized by the Global Fund for Women, in our efforts to improve the economic and social situation of Roma and Turkish women in Plovdiv, Bulgaria.

By creation of a Recourse Center we will provide skills-building trainings on information technology, English language courses, and legal and career counseling to ensure participants have the confidence to meet market demand in a globalizing economy. Through these activities, women will also analyze the causes of poverty and violence, voice their concerns, and build their capacity to participate as equals in society.

         On 15-16 of April the Managing director of the Gender Alternatives Foundation took part in the second thematic meeting organized by the UNFPA and the UNECE in Belgrade, the Republic of Serbia.
